Albeit outside upgrades sun as racial biases, persecution, ten need AT regard from society and from his family have a state to the end of Bigger Thomas, it is unjustifiable to not additionally give Bigger a lot of obligation. The smartphone was first invented in the late 1990s but it became popular after 2007 when Apple developed its first iPhone. The invention helped other like-minded companies to also come up with the same idea and windows and android platforms were developed. The whole industry has been improving and increasing in size steadily. The first android phone was brought into the markets in the years between 2007 and 2010 and it is considered to have improved the se of virtual keyboards and touch screens (Statista, 2018). The smartphone industry is projected to grow more and by the end of the year 2020 more than 1.71 billion smartphones will be shipped. Apparently, IPhone has stood out to be one of the greatest smartphones in the modern days. Android is the most popular operating system as it is cheap and easier to develop. Android making companies include samsung, Techno, LG, Huawei, Techno, Itel and Infinix among others. Apple is the only company that develops the IOS devices. Windows operating systems was mainly used by the Nokia company after its merger with Microsoft though the collaboration later died (Warren, 2015).Customer perceived valueNormally, customers and clients across the world will evaluate a specific service or product on the basis of its value against its specific selling price. Modern market managers are mainly focused on the using all the resources and time to manage and improve the prices of different products and it is due to the reason that increasing the price of commodities can boost the profits of a firm directly. Apparently, the act of dealing with pricing is quite easy. Pricing is all about managing and integrating short t actics and analytics (Harvard Business Review 2016). Successful marketing styles will always check and consider the fact that customers also look at the value of a specific commodity or service. The essence of value is quite complicated especially in the realm of psychology. It can be observed that the value nature and amount of a specific commodity or service will always lie in the eyes of the buyers. So marketers will always be required to find good ways of understanding the vale nature as perceived by the buyers or clients. A customer value model that is rigorous enables an enterprise to develop new combinations and cases that will improve the services and products that could be possibly delivered (Yang and Peterson 2004, P. 799-822). A good combination of the value will always pay off and increase the customers loyalty, sustained the growth of revenues and abilities of the consumers to try purchasing new brands that are developed by the firm. Apple Inc. is an organization that was originally manufacturing computers. Its designer and markets are Steve Jobs, Ronald Wayne and Steve Woznaik. Basically, Apple uses the identity letter I to depict innovativeness.Models of perceived valueYang Peterson (2004) notes that perceive value is always available in two models namely the customers loyalty and satisfaction. All the models are closely related as they all revolve around the qualities of services that are developed and provided by a specific organization. Customer satisfaction is often considered as what makes customers to stay loyal and to some extent even attract new customers. The two models will be considered because they appear to be explaining the main reasons why Apple has managed to win and become one of the most outstanding smartphone companies in the world.The following is a chart showing the market share of Apple smartphone from 2007 to 2017 as retrieved from Statista (2018).The data shows that Appel has managed to overcome many competitors and still manage to stay at the top. And this is where the customers satisfaction and loyalty models of customers perceived value will be expounded in a bid of trying to see why this firm has managed to stand tall. Additionally, the main aim of this discussion will be to propose a new proposed value proposition that can be applied in the apple company.Sample conceptual illustration of how the models of customers satisfaction and loyalty often contribute to the overall perceived customer value. Retrieved from Yang Peterson (2004)The model above is seen to consider qualities and factors such as moderation and the direct effects that could affect the perceived customers value. And since both models appear to be dealing with the psychology of the customers, the firm has continually managed to attract and maintain its original customers at all time. This is considered to be one of the chie f reasons why the Apple customers are always proud of the firm. In the next section an analysis of the two models will be conducted and how the whole application compares with that of the Nokia Company.Customer satisfaction Customer loyalty QualityMany people are always willing to purchase high quality goods even if they are expensive. This is a factor that constitutes the functionality value of a product. In terms of value, many people across the world will want to use a smartphone that is able to integrate technological and elegant designs. Some smartphones have also been able to achieve that by developing smartphones that are always in very elegant shapes. Some people feel that the shapes that are provided by other companies are not as elegant as those of others even if the prices are almost the same. Smartphone firms are always trying to develop new phones whose general functionality can manage to fulfil the desires of many customers across the world, satisfy all their technolog ical needs and elegancy desires and become useful for multimedia and graphics services. People will also want to use smartphone models that are always using updated and advanced technologies. Apparently, the ability of an organization to sell goods that are fully-baked makes customers stay loyal and true. So in the smartphone industry, customers will in most cases want to only use the smartphone that will give them services that are not problematic. They would want to have a good life with the product so they will only buy and become loyal to that smartphone company so that in future they can buy the improved devices or other models of smartphones that will be released by the firm. And as noted earlier this is a customer perceived value model that is highly applied by numerous firms. Some of the firms are able to aster it correctly and others and that is why you will some companies attract a large crowd of customers and others try it but once they purchase the first smartphone they fail to have that trust or urge of waiting for the firm to release a brand new smartphone. Comparing Apple and Nokia customer perceived valueApple Nokia Mission, vision and valuesMission statement"Man is the creator of change in this world. As such, he should be above systems and structures, and not subordinate to them."Vision statementApple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. But the way the whole idea of using a customers satisfaction model has been put there is a close connection to what is referred to as customers delight (Forbes, 2016). This is a high level of satisfaction where the customers not only love the products but they enjoy being associated with the firm. In this firm, the customers are proud of being associated with the firm. Customers satisfactionThe Nokia company is one that has been facing numerous challenges. The Poignancy Of Tolkiens Four Letter Word Analysis

The Poignancy of Tolkien’s Four-Letter Word J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic novel The Lord of the Rings showcases his affinity for what is small and how its measure contradicts its significance. Tolkien crams undetected, potent potential into unlikely vessels—vessels that seemingly lack the capacity. The reader sees this in Tolkien’s protagonist and antagonist, the hobbit and ring respectively. The measure of each conflicts with its significance. With a closer look, the reader also sees this in Tolkien’s word choice. They are a race that lived in Middle-Earth for many long years before other folk were even aware of them. Their smallness and dullness go unnoticed as perhaps the word pale may to a reader. In contrast to other more impressive adjectives from which Tolkien could have easily chosen (surely his repertoire was quite large considering his affiliation with the Oxford dictionary) such as cadaverous, bleached, bloodless, sallow, anemic, even doughy, the word pale is plainly dull, and its full capacity in terms of Tolkien’s text could easily be skimmed over by the reader. Similarly, many of Tolkien’s characters—the hobbits, Lady Eowyn, even Strider go unnoticed at first glance for their full potential. The hobbits are over looked due to their size, Eowyn due to her gender, and Strider due to his choice. Each, however, rises to a significance far greater than their measure. Like these characters, pale is more than it seems, more than is expected. The word pale is most often associated with fading, with loss. If it were a sound, it would be an echo—the gradual fading of what â€Å"once was.† In The Lord of the Rings the word pale echoes the fading

All these factors ensure the brand reputation in the community and helps in boosting the customer base. Moreover, motivating, assessing their performance and providing opportunities to the employees are also the objective of the Mantra on Kent. In this way, the employees performance can be assessed easily regarding the term whether they are performing their responsibilities or not (Torres and Kline, 2013). Strategies to meet these business objectives Offering Capacity Bonuses The managing authorities also offer capacity bonuses for their interns and staffs on their quality performance. Taken for instance, in terms of hotels bookings if an employee booked more rooms in a specific time like a week or month, they will receive extra bonus that on the other hand motivates them to serve their best so that they can attain more financial benefits. Use Guest Cards Han and Yoon (2015) stated that guest cards allow hotel managers to evaluate the performance of their employees and interns. These cards are given to the customers before they check out. Torres and Kline (2013) also describes that these cards allow the customer to comments on the facilities and services they get from the hotel and the attendants. The Mantra on Kent offers pay bonusesto the staff, who receive the maximum number of constructive acknowledge from the guests. This extra pay provides motivation for the high performing employee. These aspects on handling in priority provide the customers a satisfaction that encourages them to use their services again. Staff Training Moreover, if staffs of the organization are well trained, they can fulfill their desired objectives in order to satisfy the requirement of the guests (Decker and Townes, 2016). Yearly training on fulfilling customers requirements and hospitality etiquettes along with the regular communication with the experts regarding handling the customers complaints is fulfilled by Mantra on Kent. All these factors help the concerned organization to achieve high customer satisfaction rate. Incorporating new technologies Wi-Fi infrastructure and digital facility overhauls Collins (2015) stated that people in recent times spend more time on their smart devices to accomplish their work. Thus, Mantra on Kent provides facility like Wi-Fi technology and digital conference facilities for office meetings so that people can use internet and access to audio-visual (AV) facilities. In addition to that, Chan and Lam (2013) highlights the fact that in recent times, people are more concerned towards security issues and hotel industries spend more revenue in making the payments modes and data security followed by guest room technology, bandwidth facility and mobile engagement. Image 1: Hospitality sectors priority in 2016 (Source: Chan and Lam, 2013) Mantra on Kent in this context majorly emphasizes on the automation process so that customer do not have to worry about payments, booking their requests and acquiring knowledge on their own. In this way, customers feel that this hotel adopts modern technology and they desire to experience their services. Energy conversation In recent times, problems like global warming and climate change is severe and many organizations hence take initiatives of using energy efficient products within their company (Leung Law, 2013). Nicolau and Santa-Mara (2013) also depicts that according to energy consumption model, heat sources, Auxiliary equipments, heat distribution system, hot water supply, water, water supply and drainage, ventilation and electric power receiving are the energy consumption aspect in an hospitality industry in which much power and energy required to operate the hotel operational functionalities. Image 2: Energy consumption structure of a hotel (Source: Nicolau Santa-Mara, 2013) Mantra on Kent uses products like energy efficient taps, flow controllers, sanitary wares and white goods as per as the water efficiency guidelines regulated by Government of Australia through their Water Efficiency Labeling and Standards (WELS) scheme (Water Rating Water efficiency, 2017). Moreover, all the appliances used in this hotel are energy rated through which the energy and money is saved and environmental adversities can be diminished. Following all these strategies the objectives for Mantra on Kent can be fulfilled along with the high rates employee retention, customer satisfaction and advance technologies. Interrelations between the internal and external stakeholders to obtain objectives Stakeholders are the people, who are affected by the organization's actions, objectives and policies and can be categorized as- internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (Mishra et al., 2014). Pinheiro (2015) defines that an internal stakeholders are those entities, who are directly associated with the business; while, an external stakeholder are the people, who are influenced by the action taken by the organization. Employees, managing authorities and boards of directors can be categorized within internal stakeholders, whereas, investors, suppliers, government and consumers are the external stakeholders compared to an organization (Fikru, 2014). In context with the Mantra on Kent, the internal stakeholders are the interns, working personnel, managers, owner and board of directors and the external stakeholders are the customers, suppliers and government. Pinheiro (2015) mentioned that both the internal and external stakeholders are liable for attaining the business objectives through the implementation of their skills and competencies for the betterment of the organization. Internal stakeholders like owner of the company, board of directors and managers provide required resources like- procuring machinery, identifying suitable premise and necessary equipment and raw materials to operate the business functionality efficiently. Moreover the employees serve their best to achieve the companys objectives through their team building effort and good interpersonal skills (Rothaermel, 2015). Beringer et al. (2013) furthermore depicts that in terms of external stakeholders, customers are said to be the supporters of businesses in the economy and these people helps business to identify changing trends that can provide an overview of the business performance. Lastly, other external stakeholders are the governments and they are liable for impleme nting regulations for business activities in order to protect consumers from adversities that can be occurred from the products and services they are getting (Fikru, 2014). Thus, in order to perform the business operation efficiently, satisfying the stakeholders and the interrelationship among the internal and external stakeholder is important. In terms of Mantra on Kent, they take necessary steps to satisfy the needs and demands of the internal stakeholders by fulfilling the guidelines to gratify their external stakeholder (Fikru, 2014). One such inter-relationship can be illustrated through the guest cards and the feedback survey Manta on Kent offers to their guests so that they can rate their services. The rating or the feedback reveals their competencies and allows them to identify their advantages and drawbacks. Weiss (2014) stated that this approach also ensure their future improvement and thus, this interrelation of the internal stakeholder that are owner or staffs of the organization with the external stakeholder that are the customers, help to achieve the organizations objectives of attaining customer satisfaction. Two factors that are identified in the above section were- handling customer complaints and staff training. Handling customers complains provide the organization an overview regarding their disadvantages ; as a result, organization improves their facilities to make the customers (external stakeholder) satisfied (Weiss, 2014). This improvement not only ensures the accomplishment of their objectives for customers satisfaction but also enhance their brand recognition (Rothaermel, 2015). In terms of staff training, the managers (internal stakeholder) take initiatives for providing training to their staffs (internal stakeholder). Thus, it can be seen that, in the former case, there is an interrelationship between the internal and external stakeholder; while, in the latter case, the interrelationship between the two internal stakeholders is illustrated. Moreover, in terms of accomplishing employee retention, Mantra on Kent motivates their staffs and interns. The staff gets motivated if they are paid for their effort and get additional benefits for their better performance than others (Rothaermel, 2015). Taken for instance, if a staff or intern gets more positive comments from their customers or if they accomplish responsibilities beyond their desired tasks, they are eligible for getting bonus. Thus, in this way, the internal stakeholders (staffs) serve their best by utilizing their knowledge to satisfy their customers (external stakeholders). Moreover, the greater the customer satisfaction is the higher will be the bonus conquered by an employee that is provided by the owner or managing authorities (internal stakeholder) of the organization (Fikru, 2014). Thus, in order to attain employee retention through motivation, there is an interrelation among the internal and external stakeholders. In addition to that, for incorporating new technologies, there is a connection among the customers and the managers of the organization, which is again represents the interrelationship between the internal and external stakeholders (Mishra et al., 2014). The increasing demand of the technology does not only allow the automation of the operations but also provide them competitive advantage compared to other companies in the market. This demand of the customer (external stakeholders) encourages the managers (internal stakeholders) to obtain their business objectives by enhancing their operations by adopting modern technologies. In addition to that, implementation of technology in the workplace allows the employee to attain more knowledge. This knowledge ensures their development of their skills and job potential. Weiss (2014) mentioned that an employee desire to retain in an organization, where the work environment provides them to learn new things that can enhance them both personally and professionally. Moreover, in terms of adopting the energy efficient initiatives, interaction between the government (external stakeholder) and organizations managing authorities (internal stakeholders) is occurred. The regulations for using the energy efficient appliances or products are utilized in order to diminish the environmental adversities of global warming and climate change (Beringer et al., 2013). This approach helps the Mantra on Kent to attract more customers as in recent times; consumers become more concern about the green technology. However, this follow up of the governing regulation in the business operations, makes the customer more satisfied and they will prefer to experience the services of this hotel accommodation facility. Thus, it can be concluded that, in order to perform business operations or to attain business objectives, interrelationship among the internal and external stakeholder are important as performance of one stakeholder (staff) affects the satisfaction of other stakeholder (customer). The higher the number of satisfied customers is attained by Mantra on Kent, the greater will be its brand reputation, customer retention and employee retention. The Importance of Being Earnest a review Essay Example For Students

The Importance of Being Earnest a review Essay The play The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde definitely proved itself to be A Trivial Comedy for Serious People. I saw the play at Lindenwood Universitys Jelkyl Theatre. The play was long, in a three-act structure, yet it moved along at a good pace. They did a nice job of preparing the audience, there was an interesting lobby display with sketches of each of the costumes with fabric samples and they played music to fit the time period before the show began. The first of Aristotles six components of theatre is plot. This play had an intricate and definitely interesting plot. The story begins with Ernest visiting his friend Algernon, or Algy, at his house in town. Through comical discussion, Algy soon realizes that Ernests real name is Jack, and that he is known as Jack at his home in the country. He simply invented the character of Ernest, his supposed evil brother, for an excuse to visit the city more often. Algernon then confesses that he also has a ficticious friend for an escape from reality. His name is Bunbury, and he is a permanent invalid whose illnesses often allow Algernon to escape from unpleasant social engagements. Everyone is very excited to finally meet him and immediately Ernest(Algernon) and Cecily fall in love. The two of them go inside for refreshments when a very shaken Jack arrives explaining to everyone that Ernest is dead. Everyone is a bit surprised by this, since Ernest is supposedly there. Jack, distrustful of Algernons intentions toward Cecily, orders Algernon to leave by the next train. Algernon and Cecily say their goodbyes, and Cecily confesses she has been deeply in love with Ernest for a year and has made entries in her diary detailing the courtship. Algernon, wishing to stay Ernest for Cecilys sake, rushes off to the church to be rechristened Ernest. Gwendolen, Algernons cousin, who happens to be engaged to Jack whom she believes to be Ernest, arrives from London looking for Jack/Ernest and is escorted into the garden to meet Cecily. They sit down to afternoon tea and accidentally discover they are both in love with Ernest Worthing. Jack and Algernon return to the garden, are confronted by their lovers, and admit their true identities. Gwendolen and Cecily, each with her heart set on loving someone by the name of Ernest, retreat indoors together. Gwendolen and Cecily decide to forgive Jack and Algernon their indiscretions and promise to marry them. Lady Bracknell, Gwendolens mother, makes a surprise visit in order to retrieve Gwendolen. Chasuble arrives to rechristen both young men when Miss Prisms, Cecilys teacher, name is mentioned. Lady Bracknell recognizes the name and asks that she be sent for. Miss Prism reveals she had been previously employed as governess to Lady Bracknells sister (Algernons mother) but that one day she failed to come home with the baby in her charge. buy custom The Prosecution of Criminals and Mozambican Model essay

buy custom The Prosecution of Criminals and Mozambican Model essay The main purpose of the paper is to study and analyze the article War, Gender and Culture: Mozambican Women Refugees written by Tina Sideris in order to answer the question whether prosecution of war criminals should take precedence over amnesty and/or reconciliation (Sideris, 2003). The special attention in this essay is paid to the Mozambican model, as it is important to define whether it is worth emulating, or it saws the seeds of future conflicts. The following conflict in the world history is a perfect example of demonstrating the connection between the war criminals and the outcomes of their crimes as a lot of people have been injured during this warfare. The current analysis shows that criminals prosecution is extremely important despite the fact that there are series of cases where the amnesty has to take place. The war in Mozambique continued for nearly two decades and it has injured a great number of people. Special attention has to be paid to the trauma caused towards women that are far more affected by the severe violence and constant warfare. The numerous injured people that survived show that the multiple injuries are the result of the lack of understanding of the real value of humans life, the outomes of the conflicts and crimes (Sideris, 2003). In this connection, punishment and prosecution have to be implemented in order to stop criminals committing crimes. This shows the border line to a great number of people. The injury to the spirit is worse than the physical injuries. Therefore, the trauma that remains after the crime is even more severe. However, here it can be seen that the prosecution can also cause such a trauma. In this connection, the criminal can potentially become injured. That is why there are some cases where the amnesty is more suitable, especially in such countries as Mozambique. Mozambican model was suitable for the country at that period of time, but such a process results in the emergence of new conflicts. Therefore, the model that took place within the country appeared to be ineffective. It can be seen from multiple evidences of local people that a lot of families have been killed during the warfare, not only the single persons. Women have been left alone and many of them became refugees. A great number of deaths could have been prevented in case the criminals were stopped. It is important to persecute and punish such individuals because of the destructive characteer f their crimes and the great number of innocent victims. The amnesty for such criminals is not an option because it can be seen that this warfare was extremely heavy and resulted in the psychological trauma, depression and distress of a number of people. These mental injuries might affect their children and therefore the number of victims grows. The series of crimes produces a great number of criminals as well. And these people have to witness severe punishment. Unlike common citizens that witnessed persecution and therefore were seriously harmed, real criminals have to face real punishment. This is the main difference between the two measures and therefore in the majority of cases criminals that affected innocent civilians have to be persecuted. This will lower the number of criminals and make it possible to prevent a series of new crimes and victims. It is extremely important to protect people and guarantee their safety and security of their families. That is why the amnesty in many cases is not a perfect solution as it will cause the emergence of new criminals that can also be left unpunished. A proper system and its stable functioning will support the development of healthy social environment within the country. Buy custom The Prosecution of Criminals and Mozambican Model essay

Compare and contrast Pearl harbor Intelligence failure with Battle of Essay

Compare and contrast Pearl harbor Intelligence failure with Battle of midway intelligence success - Essay Example riority conflict between the battleship service and the carrier service departments in the US navy with each trying to reserve its independent identity. The carrier service, which had always been a subordinate to the battleship administration, was considered not very vital in naval strategy and there was a perception that an attack on Pearl Harbor was impossible. Unlike the Pearl Harbor attack, the Battle of Midway between Japanese and U.S found the United States prepared. However, the battle remained unpredictable until towards the end. In the attack that started on June 4 1942, the Japanese sought to capture the central pacific island of Midway, which was being used by the US as an airfield. The Japanese aimed to destroy the American fleet and use the island as their base. However due to Communications intelligence success, the United states Pacific fleet made a surprise attack on the Japanese sinking four of their carriers and losing one. This paper compares and contrasts the caus es of failure and success in the two battles. Prior to these attacks, there were clear signs of mistrust and suspicions by both Americans and Japanese. In addition, both Tokyo and Washington had been engaged in negotiations aimed preventing any event of war, but these later turned out as the strategies merely used to buy time as the military of the two nations put strategies in place. A clear sign of the inevitable war with Japan became evident when the American intelligence intercepted some sections of the Japanese diplomatic communications. Six messages wired from Tokyo to the Japanese embassy in Washington which communicated the deadline for the bilateral negotiations, and the consequences in case of the failure of the talks, should the US refuse to accept the terms so offered by Japan. For instance, â€Å"†¦and the messages illustrated the Tokyo’s fear or threat of rupture of the negotiations† (Lundstrom & John 2004). The other aspect of similarity is that during both the

Intelligence Case Essay Example for Free

Intelligence Case Essay In the traditional view of China, people think intelligence is a person with high IQ and could get high score at the intelligence test. However, this should be the biggest misunderstanding at all. A person who can get high grade at the test may just be good at the test, and it can never prove the person is intelligence in every field of life. Intelligence is a word to describe a person who is wise. According to my understanding, intelligence includes much more than smart. I think intelligence is a kind of ability or wisdom a person get as long as he/she grow older. Within the settling of time, people can learn more and more from life experience or other people. There are some natural born intelligence, but not all. According to Howard Gardner, â€Å"[intelligence] is an inborn attribute or faculty of the individual† (Howard, 109). Apparently, this quote give a clear explains of where intelligence came from. Gardner gave 7 different intelligences to improve his idea which I could not agree with him at all. Based on my own experience and growing environment, I should say intelligence is a kind of ability to learn, and we can become intelligence if we worked hard on those specific fields. When I was I young boy, I couldn’t speak clearly. It was an natural thing and the doctor from the hospital said that I will become mute within as time goes on. My mother was really sad about it and kept crying everyday about this. However, my father never gave up on me. He started training me after the doctor told the bad news when I was only 3 years old. At the beginning, it was really hard. I could not say even a single word as normal kids. My father forced me to bite a leaf over my tongue, and keep saying simple word like â€Å"a†, â€Å"yi† etc. I was wearing an earphone on my ear every day and could not take it off without my father’s permission. After about 3 years, at the age of elementary time, I could speak, even its still not clear enough. My father kept working hard with me, and I could speak like a normal person until I got 10. My experience told me that I may not have the linguistic talent as others, but I could speak Chinese, Japanese and English now. Intelligence can be trained as other skill. My father is my example of intelligence. When my father was graduated from high school, he was arranged to a bank by my grand-father. However, he had a slightly autism at the time. He was afraid of talking to others. But at that time, no one in China mentioned that and no one understand it’s a kind of psychological disease. My father was afraid of almost everything in the world, including my grandparents. Therefore, he never told my grandparents about it. He decided to work it out by himself. He had to speak to others and saved his job as a normal worker. He went to public place at spare time. It was really hard for him to talk to people at first. He could only stand around people and watching them doing their things. He’d ran away when somebody tried to talk to him. However, he just kept going there, he tried more and more, he practiced in front of the mirror and imagined he was talking to someone who he can make friends with. After 3 months of trying, he succeed. Another 3 years later, he met my mother and married her. And now, he ran one of the biggest hotel in my hometown and several other kinds of business. He had meetings with his employees every day and became a successful person at the interpersonal field. My father might not have the interpersonal talent, but he had the interpersonal intelligence for sure. Some intelligences were born naturally. However, people can be intelligence at the field they don’t have talent at by working hard on it. I’d love to be intelligence and I will keep trying to be intelligence at as much field as I can.

Malcolm X :: biographies, racism

Malcom X All men are created equal. This statement was the basis of the civil right movements of the 1960's. Malcom X is a man that promoted a society in which all human beings were equally respected. He believes that blacks should achieve that goal by any means necessary. In a time when blacks were not allowed to sit in the front of the bus, using the same bathroom, or were not admitted to Universities. Malcom X's cry of justice was believed to be the voice of all blacks behind closed doors. Malcom Little grew up as poor and did not have much parental support. His father was run over by a street car when he was six. Soon after his father's death, his mother was put in a mental hospital. He grew up in East Lansing and Boston. He was a pimp, a hustler, drug user, and a drug dealer. He worked in the Harlem underworld and was almost killed by his boss after he betrayed him. Malcom turned to robbery and was caught by the police and sentenced to 10 years of hard labor. While in jail, he w as introduced to the Nation of Islam, a Black Muslim group, and changed his name to Malcom X. The X replaced the slave name that was given by the white masters and stands for the his real name that he never knew. After his release from prison he started preaching for the Nation of Islam (NOI). His preaching was known for its hatred overtone. He describes America as a house with a "bomb" inside and it is about to explode. Unless the white people want the house to explode and kill everyone inside, they should take the bomb out and give it a house of their own. His speeches were very popular among angry blacks and he was frequently on the front page of the newspaper. It was rumored that other Nation of Islam members were jealous about his popularity and worried about the power he was gaining. After the JFK assassination, Malcom stated: "President Kennedy never foresaw that the chickens would come home to roost so soon... Being an old farm boy myself, chickens coming home to roost never did make me sad; they always made me glad." After many death calls from irritated Whites, The Nation of Islam started to distance themselves from Malcom.

The Powerful Nations of Imperialists

Imperialism is the practice by which powerful nations or peoples seek to extend and maintain control or influence over weaker nations or peoples. By the 1800†³s, the Western powers had advantages in this process. They led the world in technological advances, giving them a dominance when conquering other countries. The European Imperialists made attempts to conquer China and Japan. In this process, they succeeded by influencing Japan greatly. However, they were not as successful with China. At the end of the eighteenth century, China†s goods were much desired by Britain. However, the Chinese saw Europeans as savages and did not want to trade with them. During trade, there was an imbalance in China†s favor, because the Europeans were forced to buy Chinese goods using silver. The Western Imperialists began to grow opium poppies from in India, and then smuggle them into China. China soon became addicted to the drug and spent most of it†s money on the purchase of it from the Europeans and Americans. This shifted the balance of power to be in Europe†s favor. In the early 1800†³s, Japan had blocked off all trade from other countries. Foreign whaling ships could not even reload or repair their ships in Japan territory. This offended many other countries. In 1852, Matthew Perry was sent to Japan to negotiate open trade. Japan felt threatened by the United States, and gave in to their demands. Japan was frightened by their stipulations, and immediately began to reform. They developed a new education system that was similar to America and Europe†s. They also developed a Western style judiciary system. Japan and China reacted differently to the reforms of Imperialism. When put under pressure, Japan succumbed to the power of Western Imperialist ideas. Conversely, China, resisted for a long time. As a result, Japan had more technology, while China was unenlightened of the new advances. Japan also gained more respect from other countries, that China did not have. In the long run, Japan gained more by yielding to the Historically, states have been motivated to pursue imperialism for a variety of reasons, which may be classified broadly as economic, political, and ideological. The imperialism of China and Japan in the nineteenth century helped shape the way the countries are today. Japan†s culture, education, government, and other issues are based on the influences of America and Europe from years ago.

Fujiwhara Effect - Two Hurricanes Interacting

The Fujiwara Effect is an interesting phenomenon which can happen when two or more hurricanes form very near each other. In 1921, a Japanese meteorologist named Dr. Sakuhei Fujiwhara determined that two storms will sometimes move around a common center pivot point. The National Weather Service defines the Fujiwhara Effect as the tendency of two nearby tropical cyclones to rotate cyclonically about each other. Another slightly more technical definition of the Fujiwhara Effect from the National Weather Service is a binary interaction where tropical cyclones within a certain distance (300-750 nautical miles depending on the sizes of the cyclones) of each other begin to rotate about a common midpoint. The effect is also known as the Fujiwara Effect without an ‘h’ in the name. Fujiwhara’s studies indicate storms will rotate around a common center of mass. A similar effect is seen in the rotation of the Earth and moon. This barycenter is the center pivot point around which two rotating bodies in space will spin. The specific location of this center of gravity is determined by the relative intensity of the tropical storms. This interaction will sometimes lead to tropical storms dancing with each other around the dance floor of the ocean. Examples of the Fujiwhara Effect In 1955, two hurricanes formed very near each other. Hurricanes Connie and Diane at one point seemed to be one huge hurricane. The vortices were moving around each other in a counterclockwise motion. In September 1967, Tropical storms Ruth and Thelma began to interact with each other as they approached Typhoon Opal. At the time, satellite imagery was in its infancy as TIROS, the worlds first weather satellite, was only launched in 1960. To date, this was the best imagery of the Fujiwhara Effect yet seen. In July of 1976, hurricanes Emmy and Frances also showed the typical dance of the storms as they interacted with each other. Another interesting event occurred in 1995 when four tropical waves formed in the Atlantic. The storms would later be named Humberto, Iris, Karen, and Luis. A satellite image of the 4 tropical storms shows each of the cyclones from left to right. Tropical storm Iris was heavily influenced by the formation of Humberto before it, and Karen after it. Tropical Storm Iris moved through the islands of the northeastern Caribbean during late August and produced locally heavy rains and associated flooding according to the NOAA National Data Center. Iris later absorbed Karen on September 3, 1995 but not before altering the paths of both Karen and Iris. Hurricane Lisa was a storm that formed on September 16, 2004 as a tropical depression. The depression was located between Hurricane Karl to the west and another tropical wave to the southeast. As hurricane Karl influenced Lisa, the quickly approaching tropical disturbance to the east moved in on Lisa and the two began to show a Fujiwhara Effect. Cyclones Fame and Gula are shown in an image from January 29, 2008. The two storms formed just days apart. The storms briefly interacted, although they remained separate storms. Initially, it was thought the two would exhibit more of a Fujiwhara interaction, but despite weakening a bit, the storms stayed intact without causing the weaker of the two storms to dissipate.
